WEDNESDAY, April 18th at 7pm: MERLIN'S DRAGON Concludes

Faerie presents the exciting conclusion of on of T.A. Barron’s most thrilling adventures, featuring a new and unforgettable character in his earliest years, live in voice.

Long ago, at the dawn of Merlin’s world, a strange little creature named Basil appeared. Part lizard, part bat, his eyes glow with a mysterious light. When Basil discovers a threat to his world and to Merlin, he begins an epic journey that takes him from the Great Tree of Avalon to the outermost edges of the spirit realm. But his boldest journey will be to face his own deepest fears. And only if he survives can he save Merlin—and find his future.

TUESDAY, April 17th at 7PM; DOON Continues

Corwyn continues this hilarious epic National Lampoon parody  of Frank Herbert's sci-fi adventure, Live in voice.

We must take care that we do not ascribe undue importance
to chance in the affairs of men. Just as the human mind is a kind  of cause-and -effect generator, so is the unterdeterminancy of action and reaction in a concomitant force tending away from predictibility. Hence the ramifications , the fundimental because consciousness is similar like a big box, so you've got , say, an animal in this box.

FANTASY WARM-UP:
A Taste of Pratchett
- Open your eyes and then open your eyes again -
Caledonia prepares us for our sojourn to Fantasy Faire this year with selections from
"The Wee Free Men"

A nightmarish danger threatens from the other side of reality. . .
Armed with only a frying pan and her common sense, young witch-to-be Tiffany Aching must defend her home against the monsters of Fairyland. Luckily she has some very unusual help: the local Nac Mac Feegle—aka the Wee Free Men—a clan of fierce, sheep-stealing, sword-wielding, six-inch-high blue men.
Together they must face headless horsemen, ferocious grimhounds, terrifying dreams come true, and ultimately the sinister Queen of the Elves herself. . . .

HALLOWEEN 1973
It's Halloween night 1973, when the ghosts and monsters come out to play, and a handful of kids who've gone out for a night of trick or treating have just discovered that the warnings their parents gave them, "Stay out of the woods after dark," have a very real reason for existing. Corwyn continues this hilarious epic National Lampoon parody  of Frank Herbert's sci-fi adventure, Live in voice.

Lady Jazzica introduced Pall. The Revved-Up Mother eyed him sourly.

Damn that Jazzica! she thought. If only she had obeyed our command! We send her out for a pound of butter and she comes back pregnant !

"So this is our candidate for Kumkwat Haagendasz," the Revved-Up Mother mused. " What's your age, lad?"

"Fifteen, Ma'am."

"Pall,"Jazzica reprimanded. "You should call her Revved-Uppedness...."

"Never mind." the old woman snapped. "He can call me anything he wants."

" So long as he doesn't call me late for dinner," Pall completed the catechism.

The old woman's eye glinted amusement.

MONDAY April 9th at 7pm: THE CRUCIBLE OF TIME

THE CRUCIBLE OF TIME
- by John Brunner -
Far off in space is an alien race which is so much like us, yet so un-alike. From the birth of their earliest civilization through to their attainment of star flight as their star system passes through the galaxy, we follow their development through the ages.
Aquatic by nature, this race presents some significant challenges well outside the realms of anything encountered by humanity. But they are also driven by all too familiar hopes, fears, desires, needs, wants, prejudices, impact of religious ideologies, and the quest for knowledge we have experienced in the growth of our own civilization.

WEDNESDAY, April 4th at 7PM: MERLIN'S DRAGON Resumes

Faerie continues T.A. Barron’s most thrilling adventures, featuring a new and unforgettable character in his earliest years, live in voice.

In the years after Fincayra disappears and Merlin has been sent wandering, a young lizard-like creature, with the wings of a bat and the magical power to produce any smell it encounters, is born into the new world of Avalon. The unlikely hero—Basil, he is called—cannot find a single creature like itself nor a person who can tell him what he is. But it is clear that Basil is much more than he seems when he stumbles into an encounter with the great Merlin, saving his child’s life, then uncovers a secret plot by the evil Rhita Gawr. It’s a race against time and across Avalon as Basil, with the help of the faithful wind sister Ailah, searches for the great wizard to warn him.

TUESDAY, April 3rd at 7PM: National Lampoon's DOON Continues

Corwyn continues this hilarious epic National Lampoon parody  of Frank Herbert's sci-fi adventure, Live in voice.

Arruckus – men call it Doon, the dessert planet. It is a sugar covered wasteland entirely devoid of entrees, patrolled by a terrifying species of giant pretzel. This savage world is the setting for an apocalyptic drama between the evil Baron Hardchargin, and young Pall Agamemnides. These forces clash over Doon’s one precious resource, a substance found nowhere else in the Universe: the mind-altering liquid know as beer…

Special thanks goes to Aoife Lorefield for her support and wonderful Quest.  Dagmar Kohime for the way-super-cool jackets and T-shirts.  Inara Pey for generally letting us do our thing.  Corwyn Allen & Wald Schridde for their delightful music.  Our friends at Radio Riel & Fantasy Faire Radio: Gabi, Elrik, Zander, and friend Ktahdn for joining in. Thank you Dubhna Rhiadra for hosting the final sandbox gathering - such fun!

MONDAY, March 26th at 7PM: FROST & FIRE

The runner up in the recent poll nominating "Science Fiction By Command" for the just completed Volume 10 celebration, Gyro presents Ray Bradbury's 1946 classic.

Placed there by a past rocket ship that crashed, the people of the storied land are within sight of another rocket ship on a distant mountain plateau. The plot follows Sim, the protagonist of this story, and his apparently short life on a planet where people are cursed by radiation to live only eight days.

The people of this planet are also gifted with racial memory (they remember their ancestors' memories). However, they do not attempt to reach the sole remaining rocket ship due to the futility of attempting to reach it in one hour, which is the longest length of time between day and night (both deadly).

Sim is then moved by the memory of his ancestors to find and meet with scientists who make halting progress towards the goal of lengthening the world's decreased life span. Sim, motivated by his dwindling days, makes it his goal to extend his life and reach the distant rocket, despite the protests of his sister and other cave-dwellers.

FINAL WEEKEND - VOLUME 10: Celebrating a Decade of Seanchai Library

As VOLUME 10 draws to its conclusion - full of great events, new friends made, old friends joyfully reunited - Seanchai Library invites you to two events for our finale weekend.

Saturday, March 24th
@ 2pm: War of the Worlds at Holly Kai Park's Art Hill.

The Martians have landed!  But no one believes the incredible, unbelievable truth - that there's life out there beyond our atmosphere, and that it might not be so very friendly.  Join Bear Silvershade, Caledonia Skytower, Derry McMahon, Aoife Lorefield, Zander Greene, Kayden Oconnell, and Shandon Loring for this Sci-Fi treat, first read by Seanchai Library in 2009.

Sunday, March 25th
@1pm: The Storyteller's Sandbox hosted by Dubhna Rhiadra, at Ceili├║radh Glen.

Seanchai Library has always been about more than just what happens on our home parcel.  Over our ten year history we have continually made connections, provided opportunities and resources to the greater spoken word community.  We've invited some of our friends from across the grid to join us for one final Volume 10 gathering around the fire, to share stories and poems.

Take a stroll through A Decade of Seanchai Library, a retrospective wander from our beginnings in the West of Ireland, through our years with the Community Virtual Library, our expansion to the Kitely Grid, to the present time.  Images, artifacts, media links all come together to share the story of telling stories.  This exhibit will remain open through the end of the month, so there's still time to walk through the caverns and tunnels of a decade.

AND the Volume 10 Quest will also stay up through the end of March.  There's still goodies to find and surprises to be found by exploring the clues of this light-hearted, fun adventure.  Find instructions at the Seanchai Library main landing point and let your quest begin.
